Barbara Manuel
Barbara began making copper jewellery over 25 years ago. There was a
lapse of fifteen years and a move to Queensland before Barbara restarted
working in Silver and Gold.
Barbara worked from her home in rural Meandarra and attended many
seminars all over Queensland.
Barbara enjoys the fine work required for her "Outback" Charms and
Cloisonne Enamel "one off' pieces as well as the range of rings bangles
and necklaces.
Her work is highly regarded and she has won several awards and prizes
and features in many private collections.
1993 brought a move to Toowoomba and access to an electric kiln, so
Barbara started her experience with kiln fired glass, again finding
success. The plates, bowls and Noughts and Crosses sets made from Fused
and Formed glass are very popular.
Much of her inspiration for both mediums is gleaned from surrounds both
natural and man-made. Ripples, swirls and reflections of water and the
changing patterns of light play a large part of the Glass and Cloisonne.
Designs and objects found on the verandah and garden, leaves, flowers,
akubra, whip and chains etc., are also used for Jewellery inspiration,
