CAROLE-ANN FOOKS

accredited label and workshop.
Carole-ann has had a career in education and is currently a senior
lecturer at the university of south australia in art / design,
specializing in jewellery and small scale mixed media objects.
In her own creative work carole-ann has produced objects in a wide range
of applied arts, including textiles, ceramics, handpaper-making,
jewellery and enamelling, and has further experience in computer
generated images. Carole-Ann has taken part in numerous exhibitions in
Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Italy, South Africa and the united states
of America. Her work is prominent in many private and public collections
in all these countries. In the last ten years jewellery has become her
primary focus. She has a particular interest in landscape and also
acknowledges ethnographical influences.
Her work is usually created in sterling silver, commonly in conjunction
with one or more other materials such as bone, horn, copper, paua shell,
mother-of-pearl, gem stones, emu egg-shell, ostrich egg-shell and
crocodile teeth. She normally produces a series of pieces where similar
but not identical works are produced from the same theme using related
design attributes. Some of her pieces are technically complex but this
never overshadows the aesthetics. Other works are based on simple
geometry typically incorporating a contrasting texture, pattern or
colour.
Items include rings, pendants, neckpieces, necklaces, earrings,
cufflinks, lapel pins, bracelets, and especially brooches. All her
jewellery is designed to be worn.
