Chris Binder

Chris spent many years on the Sapphire fields of Central Queensland and in 1976 was handsomely rewarded for all his hard work by finding one of the noted famous Queensland Sapphires.

In her book "RUBYVALE SLOW DOWN OR YOU'LL PASS IT", Beryl Gartrell on page 137 includes in her list "FAMOUS QUEENSLAND GEMS".

Christopher Binder's 'Australian Sun' found on the surface after rain at Sapphire in 1976, weighed 396 carats in the rough, a fine sapphire.

Chris, now retired from all the hard work of sapphire mining, spends most of his time travelling.
