Julie Day

I was born and raised in Brisbane of a White Russian architect father and an English/Irish Mother who fostered a love of the arts in all its forms.

I attended Clayfield College and studied piano, but lacking direction started a science degree at the University where I was introduced to the fascinating subject of geology. This sparked a lasting interest in gemstones and crystals. I also married a geologist so minerals and their formation were always on the daily menu.

I spent nearly 20 years in tropical far North Queensland raising children and enjoying the beauty of the area, which seemed to seep into your Soul. I have always had a need to fill my creative urge, whilst in the north I completed a 3 year course in Studio Ceramics, which certainly gave me an excuse to play in the Mud.

Our return to Brisbane 13 years ago enabled me to take up Jewellery- making under the excellent tuition at The Goldsmith's School and I felt as though I had finally found my creative medium. I pursued my interest of gemstones by studying for two years to obtain a diploma in Gemology. This helps me to understand and select the gemstones to complement my jewellery.

I have been making jewellery now for 10 years both in silver and gold and am  drawn towards setting crystals as I believe they have a unique vibrations that enhances the energy field of the wearer.

At the same time I have been studying the ancient art of Astrology and am committed to pursuing this as my other lifetime direction and career, passing of  valuable information to others. This has encouraged me to develop a series of Zodiac symbols set with or without the respective birthstone. I feel settled in pursuing both these creative fields and working towards a high standard of excellence and expertise.
