Pros Meyrick
Born in Victoria in the now non-existent town of Yallourn, Pros Moved to
Mt Isa in North-west Queensland at an early age and then to Brisbane
where, apart from 6 years spent in the R.A.A.F. with active service in
Malaysia (1955-56), he still resides. From the early 1980's his work
lead him to extensive travel in western and outback areas where he
learned anew his respect for this aspect of
Australian life.
Although his working life has been mainly in Mechanical drawing and
associated fields he has always maintained an interest in the arts
especially in sculpture. A member of the Queensland Society of
Sculptures, Pros began sculpting when he retired from his job as an
engineering draftsman in 1983. his life long love of Clydesdale and
Shire horses has been the inspiration for many of his works.
Since 1988 he has made extensive study trips to the United States of
America visiting many galleries and this has inspired him to concentrate
on depicting in bronze the people and lifestyle of early Australia.
His sculptures have sold to both private and public institutions in New
Zealand, the United Kingdom and the united States of America in Florida
and Missouri.
